Calling All Reporters!
by Chris Copley

If you have a home-schooled high-schooler or mature
middle-schooler who is interested in writing for the newspaper, consider the teen writing team for Pulse, the weekly teen-oriented section of the Herald-Mail. This section publishes stories, poems, photos, reviews, rants, illustrations and serial fiction by teens.

Meeting weekly, the group encourages 8 to 12 kids to come make new friends. Attendance is not required, but the goal is make these meetings engaging. There is no cost to write for Pulse, and Pulse does not pay team members.

What's in it for the teen reporters? Published clips for the portfolio; time with other teens; a chance to work with professional writers; and, a bit of exposure to the adult world of work.

Teens are welcome to participate as much as they wish. Some kids contribute often; others contribute occasionally or rarely.

For more information, contact Chris Copley at The Herald-Mail.
