Northern Virginia Home Education Conference
Chantilly, VA
Schedule: July 11-12, 2008
Registration Form

Now is the time to save money and register for the fifth annual Northern Virginia Home Education Conference on July 11-12, 2008 at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, Virginia.  While "Northern Virginia" is a part of our name, our attendees come from the entire Metropolitan Washington area and many surrounding states.

This conference is affordable, easy to get to, and has all the major curriculum vendors including BJU Press, A Beka Curriculum, Videotext Interactive, KONOS, Excellence in Writing, RightStart, ACE, Classical Conversations, Alpha Omega and many more! This is the only comprehensive, education-focused and inclusive homeschool event in the Metropolitan Washington area in 2008. This conference features convenient location, affordable registration prices, free parking, exhibit hall with over 100 booths, used book sale, workshops, door prizes, Mommy & Me room, food court, and demonstrations!

This year's Keynote Speaker is Andrew Pudewa, director of the Institute for Excellence in Writing and a homeschooling father of seven.  Presenting throughout North America, he addresses issues relating to teaching, writing, thinking, spelling, and music with clarity, insight, practical experience, and humor. His best endorsement is from a young Alaskan boy who called him "the funny man with the wonderful words." He and his beautiful, heroic wife Robin currently teach their four youngest children at home in Atascadero, California.

Our Featured Speaker is Jim Weiss, storyteller for over 25 years.  He and his wife, Randy, formed a production company, Greathall Productions, and have thus far produced 40 storytelling recordings with enticing  titles from classical literature, such as Greek Myths, King Arthur and Sherlock Holmes. His recordings are highly praised and recommended by practically every homeschooling journal and professional and he has received over 80 national awards. Other speakers include Jessie WiseWade Hulcy, Maggie Hogan, Tammy Duby, John Jenkins and Steve Demme. You can find more information on all the conference speakers and workshops that they will be providing on the conference website at www.novaconference.net .

We have planned two workshops geared to high school students and/or their parents.  Steve Clark will be presenting Algebra Alcatraz!  A Workshop for Teens and Their Wardens ...[Oops! I Meant Parents!] and John Jenkins will be presenting The Master Storyteller. Be sure to check out the workshop descriptions on our conference website and plan to bring your teens with you for these special workshops.  We have expanded our Demonstration Area schedule and have great demonstrations for the whole family including Physical Theatre by Tyler Hogan, a storytelling session with Jim Weiss and Fullers Fantastic Geodesic Domes by the National Building Museum.
