Celebrate the Lunar New Year in Frederick!

Free Kick-Off Event!
Sat., Feb. 2 | FSK Mall

Treat your kids to a cultural Asian event from 1-3:00pm at FSK Mall. The "Year of the Rat" kick-off features a Lion Dance, calligraphy, tea, Sushie and dumpling demonstrations, Go Game, and other Asian artists. 

On February 16, 2008, the 4th annual Lunar New Year Celebration will be held at Governor Johnson High School auditorium from 6:30 – 8:30pm. This event is organized by the Learning Institute For Enrichment (LIFE) & Discovery, Inc., an Asian led non-profit community-based agency whose mission is to improve quality of life through education.

Tickets for the Feb. 16th event are $6/person; children under age 5 free. Performance held at Governor Johnson High School auditorium from 6:30 – 8:30pm on 2/16.

More than 7,000 people had attended the celebration since 2005. The purpose of this event is to promote better understanding of the Asian cultures represented by more than 10,000 persons in the Asian community in Frederick County. There will be myriad specters of Asian arts and culture from all over Asia with over twelve performances right here in Frederick. Featured programs will include Guzheng (Zither), Chinese traditional dance, Korean martial arts, Indian drum, Burmese dance, Chinese solo, Lion Dance, and many more.

Lunar Celebration tickets are $6/person with children under age 5 free. Purchase tickets at the Frederick County Tourism Council, Flight of Fancy, China Garden, Edo Japanese Steak House, and many other local businesses. Doors open at 5pm with food and craft vendors. The program starts at 6:30 pm. Seating is first come, first served.
