Nu Eta Home School Honor Society, a chapter of the
National Home School Honor Society Eta Sigma Alpha, is
encouraing new applicants for the spring semester. Nue
Eta is eligible to students in grades 10 through 12 and
are at least 14 years old. Applicants must meet the
necessary requirements as well.
Nu Eta recognizes excellence, encourages scholarship,
and inspires creative leadership within the community.
This past year, members raised funds to send care
packets to over seas soldiers, played laser tag, and
sponsored a poetry contest.
Requirements for membership include:
Evidence of a test score of 1800 (SAT) or 26 (ACT) or
180 (PSAT) or a 90% on a composite battery on the IOWA,
Stanford, California, MAT, or other nationally
recognized achievement test. A copy of the test scores
sent from the testing agency is acceptable.
Evidence of a 3.5 or higher GPA based on a 4.0 scale.
The GPA may include early admission college courses,
co-op or support group home school class grades, or work
supervised or directed by the home schooling parent or
teacher.
An essay written by the applicant of no more than 500
words on an incident in his or her life that speaks to
what service, leadership, or education means to them.
A completed application form that includes forms for 2
referrals. One may be from a home schooling parent, but
one must be non-family oriented.

5th year home schooling mom, is active in the LDS Eastern Home
Educators (LDSEHE) conferences. She is the Executive Director for Quantum
Foundation for Education and Arts, a faculty advisor of Nu Eta Home School Honor
Society. Kim’s natural passion is teaching piano and violin at home and at the
Century School of Music in Columbia, Maryland.
