Umbrella Groups

Homeschoolers in Frederick County may choose an umbrella group to monitor the progress of their children during the school year. An umbrella group may also consist of a "hybrid" school -- ½ private school and ½ homeschool -- and works like a weekly cooperative classroom setting. The "hybrid" choice may also include educational institutions which offer courses of study in a classroom setting.

The following education ministries and nonpublic schools are registered with the Maryland State Department of Education to supervise home instruction under regulation .05 of the home instruction regulations, COMAR 13A.10.01 Home Instruction.

This list pertains to groups located in Frederick County. Other registered groups located outside the county, though not listed here, may be used for homeschooling monitoring purposes if registered. For a complete list of all umbrella groups and non-public options in the state see the MSDE site.
