Curriculum Options

For extended enrichment, check out Frederick County Parks & Recreation, the YMCA, FCC, and our own art, fitness, music, and tutor directories for a variety of top-notch programming. Many retail and online distributors offer a nice selection of books, materials, and packaged curriculum.
Curriculum can be virtually free if materials are in a local library or on loan by networking with other homeschooling families. Use internet search engines to find free homeschool materials online. Or, consider purchasing new/used curriculum on auction sites or purchase brand new direct from the publisher, catalogs, umbrella schools, and retail outlets. Depending on the curriculum you choose, the cost for a packaged curriculum may vary from $100 to $1000. Otherwise, a "pick-your-own" curriculum can range from thrifty to expensive, depending (yet again) on choice.
Before deciding, consult with other homeschooling families to learn the advantages and disadvantages of packages versus creating your own curriculum. Visit online homeschooling resources or try your local library for excellent homeschooling books to discover the best fit for your family's learning style.
