Dear HSF!,
"How do I go about scheduling a review with FCPS for my homeschooled children?"
Thanks,

Dear Anonymous,
If you homeschool under the auspice of Frederick County Public Schools (instead of an umbrella group), then a portfolio review with FCPS is required. This year's homeschool monitoring will be conducted by Ms. Janet Noffsinger. Her official start date begins July 1, 2009.
Many support groups offer dates throughout the year for reviews with FCPS. If you are a part of a homeschool support group, inquire about review scheduling for the upcoming year.
What should you bring to the review? COMAR states that homeschoolers maintain a portfolio of materials. Some suggestions: samples of the child's writing, worksheets, workbooks, creative materials, and tests can be used in the portfolio. Work should be dated upon completion.
Good luck,
HSF! Staff
