As a scholarship seeker, you will have to do a little online digging. However, two links that can be of great assistance includes Frederick County Public Schools and The Community Foundation of Frederick County. The key, though, is to check all year - not just in the fall or spring. Scholarships can be added any time of year, so it would be helpful to check back often. Also, some scholarships are not available to homeschoolers, so read the fine print.
The Community Foundation of Frederick County is a recognized leader in providing scholarships to area students, made possible by generous donors who establish funds, or add to existing funds, at the Community Foundation. For the 2007-2008 academic year alone, the Community Foundation awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships to area students. You can find information about the Community Foundation at www.cffredco.org or by calling 301.695.7660.
Frederick County Public Schools' recently updated their website. Complete scholarship information can be located online. Click on Academics, then the Career and College Prep tab. On this site page, look to the left-hand links for Scholarships. You'll find the Scholarships' Handbook which lists available scholarships. New scholarships updated and listed periodically. Sift to locate one where homeschoolers may apply. You'll find other links for locating additional scholarship opportunities outside the FCPS site.
Thanks for the great question and good luck!
